AntiSplog.net blog launched

AntiSplog beta 1.0 have been launched to study and provide a solution to spam blogs. After launching the services we create this blog to talk about this new solution, the idea behind it, how we could use it and improve it so we can fight efficiently splogs.

What is AntiSplog
AntiSplog is a Spam blogs database which is based on an automated testing process. AntiSplog try to analyze blog content and detect different type of blogs spams. The information are recorded in database to be accessible online via a simple interface actually, that we'll extend later with more functionalities.

How to use AntiSplog
To use antisplog you can point a blog URI to

http://www.antisplog.net/check/phpmagazine.net

Where phpmagazine.net is the blog that we're trying to check.

Antisplog system will return :

1 : if the blog is detected as a SPLOG

0 : if not.

3 : if the URL don't open due to a DNS error, 404 error ... etc

There is also a bookmarklet actually available that you can add to your Bookmarks Toolbar Folder and automaticly check the splogability while visiting a Blog. The result will be as follow

Bookmarklet Antisplog
"AntiSplog" if the Blog isn't detected as Splog

Bookmarklet Splogger
"I am Splog" if the Blog is detected as Splogger

Of course the service is still in beta and it could possibly return incorrect result for some special case that haven't been implemented, we're working to detect these cases and adding them thanks to your feedbacks. But the current algorythm work fine on a large list of blogs that we have tested.

Congrats on getting this project up and running! I've given it some early tests and given it a post this evening on my site. Cheers!

Just want to let you know that your service identifies my blog as a splog. Due to the methods I use to fight spam my blog can appear very spammy in some ways, but there are also a lot of things that set it apart from the usual blog.

I am interested in this service. I have some suggestions I would be interested in sharing privately (don't want to give all the secrets out to the spammers).

It is reporting several blogs as splogs that I know are not. For example:-
www.specht.com.au/michael (my blog)
www.recruiting.com
www.identityblog.com
www.blogherald.com

Thanks all for the tests, very helpful !

As you noticed there is some strange behaviours sometimes due to bugs or technique used to detect spam.

@Joe : Its the "keywords" section in your blog that have been detected spammy. You can use the contact link in the top, or the email feedback at antisplog.net

@Michael : www.recruiting.com and your blog www.specht.com.au are both concerned by the same bug, and its fixed now.

www.blogherald.com have a spammy behaviour even if it looks okay, that's why I'm using a safe list of keywords.

The same thing for www.identityblog.com but its a safe list of links.
